According to the official website of the State of Delaware, Scripted, Inc. was incorporated on November 27, 2013. As of December 2019, Cogency Global Inc. acts as the registered agent for Scripted, Inc.

The State of Delaware assigned Scripted, Inc. the file number 5440186; the file number is a system-assigned number to place the filing in the correct order on the state database.

The headquarters of Scripted, Inc. is in Las Vegas. Corporate documents show Scripted, Inc. was initially founded and registered in Delaware, the company’s headquarters is in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to the Nevada Secretary of State, Scripted, Inc. registered as a foreign corporation in Nevada with jurisdiction in Delaware on March 22, 2016.

Origins of Scripted, Inc

Sunil Rajaraman and Ryan Buckley founded Scripted, Inc.

Scripted, Inc. was founded by Sunil Rajaraman and Ryan Buckley, the founders and operators of Scripped, Inc. after that company merged with Zhura Corp. Scripted was originally a byproduct of their scriptwriting company Scripped, Inc. According to web records from the Internet Archive, for approximately the first year of their website's operation, Scripted, Inc. marketed their service as "A Scripped Production." 

Rajaraman and Buckley did not attempt to occupy the same market as their predecessors. According to their own about page, from the very beginning, Scripted, Inc. targeted the blog, social media, and general marketing content fields almost exclusively with a small niche opening for vaguely defined "ghostwriting."

Seed funding from Crosslink Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and other investors

The first investment from Crosslink Capital in 2011. The company began with a small team and took advantage of investment funding throughout its first several years. According to a news article from Claremont McKenna College, Scripted raised over $700,000 in seed funding led by Crosslink Capital in November 2011.

Another investment led by David Wu in 2012. According to a TechCrunch press release from February 2012, Scripted secured another $150,000 in seed funding led by David Wu, a former executive from Redpoint Ventures.

Scripted raised $4.5 million from Redpoint, Crosslink Capital, and other investors in 2013. According to a 2013 article by Dylan Tweney on VentureBeat, Scripted raised a $4.5 million first round of investment. When Tweney asked Redpoint why they would invest in a “content business,” Redpoint’s Chris Moore replied via email:

“Scripted is not a content startup, but a marketplace for content creation labor. Analogs are verticalized labor marketplace companies like Live Ops and Axiom rather than your typical internet content/media businesses. Unlike other freelancer marketplace models (like oDesk, elance), Scripted has built a platform on top of the labor marketplace to deliver a complete solution (i.e., output is a finished blog post, rather than pointers to several potentially viable freelancers).” -Chris Moore

According to the VentureBeat article by Tweney, Chris Moore from Redpoint Ventures and Eric Chin from Crosslink Capital joined the board of Scripted Inc. Tweney also cited other investors in the round, including: 

• James Currier and Stan Chudnovsky from Ooga Labs, 
• Branchout CEO Rick Marini, 
• Bebo co-founder Michael Birch, 
• Military.com co-founder Chris Miichel, and
• LA angel investor Paige Craig.

Scripted, Inc. raised another $9 million in 2014. According to their profile on Crunchbase, Scripted raised $9 million on November 25, 2014. Scripted confirmed their last round of funding on their official LinkedIn account.

As of December 2019, Scripted has raised a total of $14.5 million in five rounds of funding.
