Full story
The UnemployedProfessors website has been active since 2011. The theme of their website appears to be more whimsical than many others in the same industry, featuring a cartoon slideshow at the top of their homepage that illustrates various use cases for their service. The same theme of cartoon frames appear throughout the site.
How it works
The ordering process is not available until a client creates an account. From the account creation page, the client is taken immediately to an order form where they can request project type, document type, subject area, number of pages, and deadline. There are also fields available for specific instructions or attachments.
Once an order is placed, the client waits for writers to bid on the order. Bids are displayed on the client's dashboard along with the profiles of the bidding writers. The client and writers can communicate at this stage to clarify any questions and ensure the best chance of a good match.
After the client accepts a bid, the order opens and the client can observe the writer's progress on the order. Payment is released in stages and only once the client is satisfied with the work they have received.
Services
UnemployedProfessors focuses primarily on writing and editing services. They suggest in their documentation that their service is well suited to beating TurnItIn or other plagiarism checking software. The basic order types available on the order form are original writing, re-writing, and editing. There is, however, a different field that allows for non-writing options such as math problems, multiple choice questions, and programming, among others.
Pricing
Since UnemployedProfessors uses a bidding system to connect writers and clients, the pricing can be variable. Unlike some sites that provide price estimates when the client completes the order form, there is no indicator how much a particular order may cost until the writers begin bidding. The order form also includes optional add-ons like a plagiarism report proving an order's originality or VIP service which provides a personal project supervisor.
