The EssayEdge website has operated at its current location and with its current focus on editing since 2000. It has had a variety of parent companies over the years and its most recent parent company, Peterson's, LLC, was recently acquired by Triangle Digital Ventures. Even in its earliest days, the EssayEdge site advertised three years of previous experience and claimed exclusively Harvard educated editors. It has expanded away from that over the years, but has always maintained a relatively small group of editors, when compared to some other writing service websites.
How it works
The ordering process is relatively simple and appears to be automated. The first step is simply uploading a document to be edited. The second step is the most complicated, it involves selecting service options, though these are pretty simple, as well. The first part of this is to choose one of three service levels which dictates the quality of your experience and how much work the editor will be doing for you. From there, they offer six different document "types" that dictate what specialty your editor will have, and you can upgrade with a couple optional add-ons or request a specific editor, if you like. Once those choices are made, they take you to their own payment page to finalize the order.
Unless a specific editor was ordered, your order will be placed according to availability. Clients are able to communicate with editors by email, but anyone who chose the Premier service level is also able to have two phone conversations with their editor, during the process. Completed orders are made available for download through the EssayEdge site once a client is logged in to their account.
Services
EssayEdge offers three core service levels for clients to choose from: Proofreading, Standard, and Premier. The lower two levels have a standard 48 hour turnaround and can be upgraded to 24 hours. The higher two levels include a constructive critique of the provided draft, beyond simple proofreading for grammar, spelling, and format. Clients who choose the Premier option receive a personalized experience that unfolds over two weeks based on a customer questionnaire, a brainstorming session, two rounds of critique, and two phone calls with the editor.
