This website has been operating for 10 years in the space of freelance content solutions. Their focus throughout that time has always been primarily on writing. The EssayShark website incorporates a few popular elements for sites of its kind including a dedicated page to display their customer reviews, a blog, another dedicated page to show off their top writers, and a statistics block showing off information like current active writers and number of visitors.

EssayShark was originally owned by One Freelance Limited, a UK-based company that changed its name from Brownie Freelance Limited in December 2012. In late 2013, EssayShark was acquired by FrogProg Limited, a Cyprus-based company that has owned the writing services site since.

How EssayShark works

EssayShark uses a deposit and progressive payment system rather than having the client pay for their order up front. Order placement is a straightforward process in which the client selects a topic, a number of pages, and a deadline. From there, it becomes very similar to a bidding process in which the client and potential writers can interact via chat.

Writers apply to complete a client's order, potentially providing free previews to encourage a client to select them. Orders are completed within the EssayShark site and the client is able to look in on the progress, communicate with the writer, and provide additional details. Payment is released in form of milestones as the order is completed and the final portion is only released when the client approves the finished draft and downloads their completed order.

Pricing

The pricing model for EssayShark is based on writer bids, so it can be widely variable, but the site advertises low prices and a client is able to view bids even before depositing money in their account. Money deposited in a client account becomes earmarked for an order that the client accepts a bid on, but is not released until the client chooses.

There are also options to bypass the bidding system by simply having an order assigned to the "best matching writer in your discipline" or by requesting a specific writer that a client has worked with previously. There are also add-on options like having a presentation designed to go along with your order or paying to have your order featured in the writer view, attracting more attention.

iOS Mobile App

In August 2016, EssayShark introduced a mobile app for iPhone users. The app remained active for approximately four years before being replaced by the MyWriter app.

In October 2020, EssayShark.com began to promote the new "MyWriter — Freelance Writer‪s app" on the Apple App Store. EssayShark.com replaced previous links to the former EssayShark app to the MyWriter app.
